Our story
Herb Majesty was born out of a Mothers desire to feed her children food free from antibiotics and hormones, pesticides and artificial fertilisers that hadn't been injected with water or preservatives. I wanted meat that was truly 'free range' and pasture grazed where fresh air and sunshine were the norm not the exception.
The opportunity came after we built our straw bale home in rural Perthshire and needed some lawn mowers to keep the two acre plot under control. Our first instalment consisted of three sheep, a handful of hens and five turkeys.
They were hopeless lawn mowers, refusing to eat docks and thistles but they kept us in happy, healthy meat and anything spare was gifted to greatful family and friends.
As a scientist and keen herbologist I tended our flocks with a view to prevention of disease rather than illness intervention with pharmaceuticals. I built a physic garden to fill with medicinal and culinary herbs and gathered seaweed, fruits and berries from the countryside around me to enhance the diets of our animals. The livestock thrived and there was a noticeable difference in quality and texture but the real prize was the amazing flavour the botanicals brought out in the meat.
I took such delight in every message I received from friends that said 'that was the best turkey we have ever tasted-please will you grow us another one next year?' Quite unexpectedly, word spread about the delicious herby turkeys and within two years we needed more space as five turkeys had turned into sixty turkeys and three sheep had turned into thirty sheep with more requests all the time.
And so Herb Majesty was born to offer more families the opportunity to enjoy happy, healthy, free range food, full of nature, without all the nasties.
If you would like to try some meat raised by Herb Majesty please just ask, it would be my pleasure... and it really would!
